B. A. Hydro Solutions Limited (BAHS), formerly Baker Associates Hydro Solutions LLP, was established in 2002 and has traded in the UK since 2004.

The company consists of staff, Associates and representatives totalling almost 50, of which 20 are UK based. The company has thus grown significantly from its origins and now operates across the world with associates and agents based in more than 20 countries.

BAHS technical staff and associates are all qualified to degree level, most to master’s level. Through our network of committed associates, we are able to offer expertise in the fields of environmental science, hydrology, ecology, biology, geochemistry, archaeology, contaminated land, ground source heating/cooling, pumping systems, water and effluent treatment, remediation, drilling, land management and flood management.

BAHS undertake a wide range of basic through to advanced hydrogeological, thermogeological and consultancy services including expert regulatory advice. Commonly BAHS are engaged to complete feasibility studies to assess the viability of developing new groundwater or surface water abstractions. These typically lead on to BAHS supporting clients through to the commissioning, management and maintenance of new systems.

Other assessments include studies to characterise ground conditions for use within ground source heating and cooling system designs. BAHS use a range of computer modelling design tools from simple EED to complex FEFLOW modelling packages. The scale and complexity of the modelling depends on the nature of the project. Again, BAHS commonly support clients from inception, through to completion on project and beyond.

BAHS complete all consultancy services from our head office in Cambridge where most staff are based. Also based in Cambridge office is our newly extended and refurbished laboratories, training space and admin support. The labs completes accurate, reliable and repeatable water quality analysis, grain size analysis and thermal measurements, all with exceptionally fast turnaround times.  Our labs are built, equipped and operated to UKAS standards, but cannot be UKAS accredited due to our rapid reporting times.

Our site testing and services division is based near Cheltenham and offers a wide range of site testing and inspection services all of which is completed using equipment 100% owned and operated by BAHS. These services include CCTV and geophysical logging of boreholes, well, shafts etc. BAHS undertake Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) inspections of water bodies, tunnels, adits, culverts, mines and caves. We own and operate three thermal response testing (TRT) rigs to measure thermal properties of the ground via closed loop installations.

BAHS have developed tools to measure the geophysical and thermal properties of the shallow ground, with a slim-line version that can be deployed down 40mm closed loop boreholes to over 200 metres depth.  We have an extensive range of water level, water quality and water flow logging instruments many of which can be connected to our telemetry system. We have many pumps for testing purposes, generators and pipelines.
